A centralized option
iGaming Ontario announced BetGuard on 14 May 2026 as a voluntary tool for people aged 19 and older to opt out of Ontario’s regulated online gambling platforms through one portal. The programme includes OLG’s online offering.
What the agency describes
According to the launch notice, exclusion prevents access to existing accounts and the creation of new accounts, and instructs operators to stop direct marketing to excluded individuals. Available terms include six months, one year, five years or a custom period. The service also offers a dedicated customer care line.
Understanding the boundary
The announcement concerns Ontario’s regulated online market. It should not be interpreted as a promise to block every gambling service, every website outside that market or every physical casino. The official programme is the appropriate place to confirm current coverage, conditions and the process for joining.
EDITORIAL CONTEXT
Centralization can make a programme easier to navigate by replacing repeated operator-by-operator steps with one entry point. That is a description of the design, not evidence of a particular clinical outcome.
